AceShowbiz –Dax Shepard was axed from TV series “Will & Grace” – the “only firing experience” of his life.
The 43-year-old actor is known for starring in TV shows such as “Parenthood“, “The Good Place” and “The Ranch“. But while he has landed his fair share of successes, Dax has also had to deal with some failures – such as being axed from the much-loved sitcom in 2017.
Speaking to “Will & Grace” star Sean Hayes on Monday’s (December 17) episode of his podcast “Armchair Expert”, Dax told him: “I was fired from your show. Which is my only firing experience of my life… I’m fine with it now. It was an interesting feeling to get fired.”
Dax also revealed that the only reason the experience was such a big deal was because he’s close friends with Sean, who plays Will’s best friend Jack McFarland in the show.
“The only thing I cared about is that you and I were involved,” he mused. “Had it been any other thing with a bunch of strangers, I would have been like, ‘Oh, whatever. I was at a table read for 45 minutes and then I got fired. Who gives a s**t?’ “
“The only thing is there was no anonymity to it for me. I knew many of the people at that table read. I think maybe that was the only element that I was like, ‘Well, that’s kind of embarrassing. These are people that I know, and then I got canned’.”
Reflecting on his pal’s tale, Sean admitted he “almost blocked it out”, adding: “It was horrible that it happened… I can’t believe they fired you.”
The pair moved on from the awkward situation, but hit a stumbling block for a brief second.
“That’s the only time in being friends in 12 years that I feel like, ‘Oh my god, I feel like something is awkward between us’,” Dax said.
The guest role of baker Jackson Boudreaux, who seduced both Will and Grace, was eventually filled by Nick Offerman, the husband of “Will & Grace” star Megan Mullally.
