Dancing On Ice in fix row as Michelle Heaton gets eliminated after ‘cruel twist’

ITV has become embroiled in accusations of a fix after Dancing on Ice viewers were left angered at last night's (January 29) twist, which saw Michelle Heaton eliminated from the show, without having the chance to be saved by judges in a skate-off.

Instead of the two lowest scorers battling it out in a skate-off last night's episode saw the individual with the fewest votes immediately sent packing.

Former Liberty X star Michelle, 43, and EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer were revealed as the celebs with the fewest votes, with Patsy, 50, receiving just enough to skate through to next week.

Upon her exit, an emotional Michelle, who had been partnered with ice dancing pro Lukasz Rozycki, said: "I'm gutted. I've loved every second and loved everything I just did there.

"This man has been amazing, I'm so sorry it's been cut short." Earlier in the show Michelle had received a score of 20 for her performance to All That Jazz from the musical Chicago.

As usual the celebs were scored by the judges, and then the public voted on their favourite performances. However rather than the bottom two scorers facing off in a skate-off a twist meant that the couple with the lowest score was immediately sent packing instead.

Viewers at home were less than impressed at this "cruel twist" with some accusing the judges of deliberately scoring Michelle lower and setting her up to be axed, with some arguing that former Love Island winnerEkin-Su Cülcüloğlu was scored higher despite making more mistakes.

One viewer took to Twitter, writing: "I dont understand how ekin su stumbles but still gets good marks nothing but a fix.. #DancingOnIce #DOI #ekinsu."

While another argued: "This is clearly a fix omg #DancingOnIce."

And a third tweeted: "I’m not one to rant about the tv. But what is actually going on tonight. Ekin-su doesn’t skate on her own and her performance isn’t good at all. But yet got a higher score than Michelle which was better and more entertaining. No longer watching this show. What a fix #DancingOnIce"

Others argued that Patsy was also unfairly scored higher than Michelle, with one viewer arguing: "Patsy gets HIGHER than Michelle having fallen over! Complete fix… #DancingOnIce"

And a second asked: "how has patsy scored more than michelle when she fully stacked it on ice lmfao #DancingOnIce"

Another argued: "ITV… explanations, please, as to why the viewers are all of the same opinion…this show was rigged to get rid of Michelle. So unfair.

"She may not be the best skater but she was way better than Patsy Palmer and Ekin Su. Shame on you judges! #DancingOnIce"
