The 27-year-old hit back at viewers who suggested he didn’t deserve a place on Celebrity Big Brother because of his behaviour towards Megan Tomlin, saying “everyone makes mistake” and he was a “different person then”.
Four years ago Dan was left disgraced when The Sun revealed horrifying recordings of him threatening to “stick a knife” into the mother of his son Teddy, Megan Tomlin, in a vile four-letter rant.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online about the widespread criticism the decision to cast him received, Dan said: “You are always going to have people that hold on to things.
“I was young, stupid, I hate even hearing anything about it. I am 100 per cent embarrassed about it.
“It was during the worst time of my life. I was depressed. It was horrible.
In the recording he threatened to "stick a knife" into his ex if she had sex with another man and branded her "his property".
He also ranted: "I swear on this boy’s life I will end your f****** life if you shag another man. Never in your f****** life are you going to be with another man. I can swear on my son’s life."
However, Dan who also has two daughters with wife Jacqueline Jossa, is now good friends with Megan.
He told us: “Teddy’s mum is a great mum and I get on really well with her now and I love that. That wasn’t me.”
Continuing about people’s inability to forget, he said he doesn’t think anyone should be looking back at his mistakes and that those writing nasty things online, should “shut up”.
“I was in a bad, bad place and now I am coming out of that and changing my life for the better. I don’t want to look back at that. I don’t think anyone should,” he said.
“That’s it. I care about my family, if they are happy, then I am happy. If people want to hold onto the past then good luck."
