Dakota Johnson reveals which Suspiria moment she found terrifying to film

Whether it’s a remake, revamp, reboot or homage, Luca Guadagnino’s reworking of Dario Argento’s 1977 supernatural horror Suspiria certainly looks creepy from its trailer and teaser photos.

And one of its stars Dakota Johnson has revealed which moment she found utterly scary to film.

Nope, not all that stuff with the witches. Not the unsettling 1977 Berlin period vibe. Not those scenes that freaked out everyone at CinemaCon. But dancing. In front of people.

You’d think that starring in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy would have got Dakota over her stagefright, but she told Entertainment Tonight: “I trained on and off for about a year before we started filming, but I’m not a professional dancer. It was terrifying.”

About that dance sequence, which you may not remember seeing in the original, director Luca said: “In Dario Argento’s film, you see mostly lessons; there is not a grand dance moment in the movie.

“We felt that dance needed to be part of the process of witchcraft.

“That performance builds towards the greater ritual that is at the core of the film.”

Also starring, and possibly dancing, with Dakota are Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth and Chloe Grace Moretz, who all worked together (and with drector Luca) on 2015’s A Bigger Splash.
