Corrie shock as Pat Phelan makes a big ‘return’ to the cobbles

Coronation Street’s Pat Phelan made a shocking return to the cobbles – but not quite as people may have expected.

The evil villain has been off the show for a little while since he plunged to his supposed death in a river, before it turned out he wasn’t actually dead, and came back for revenge.

In the end, Anna Windass made a shock re-entrance and brought him to his brutal end, and we even saw him being zipped up in a body-bag, meaning fans were certain he was gone for good.

But in tonight’s episode, it turned out it was not over yet as Eileen Grimshaw made a shock discovery that meant he is not out of her life just yet.

Sean Tully tried to make Eileen feel better by cooking her up some delicious hot pot.

After the sink got clogged in her kitchen, she asked Seb Franklin to take a look at her U-bend, and he found something down there.

He said: "There’s some sort of bag taped to the pipe. It’s taped proper tight."

As he tried to wrench it off, he ripped the packet, only to discover reams of cash flowing out and ending up on the floor.

Sean tried to get Eileen to spend the money – which ended up being around £5,000 – on something fun for herself, but she was mostly shocked to find Pat Phelan was not quite out of her life, as the money most definitely came from one of his dodgy deals.

She didn’t feel right spending it, even when Sean nabbed a note from the top of the pack and tried to convince her to spend it down at the pub.

But it seems as though things may not be over for Eileen and Pat, even after the grave.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
