Corrie legend could die in horror hit-and-run at Christmas

Coronation Street legend Liz McDonald will be involved in a horror hit-and-run at Christmas and will be on the bring of death.

The ITV soap’s huge festive story will bring misery to both the McDonalds and Connors as Liz’s ex-lover Johnny is arrested for the crime.

Liz, who has been plagued with misfortune this year after being duped by ex Jim, will be deliberately hit by a car, which leads to the Rovers Return landlord (Richard Hawley) being handcuffed.

It is not yet clear whether Johnny does run Liz (Beverley Callard) over, but sources believe that his scorned wife Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) could be responsible.

A source told The Sun : "Liz’s attempted murder is one of the big Christmas storylines.

"Johnny is the one who initially arrested for it, but fingers are eventually pointed at Jenny."

Despite this, Johnny will face a boycott from furious locals over what has happened to Liz.

They will refuse to enter the boozer until Johnny makes a swift exit, much to Jenny’s despair.

It looks like it will be a bloody festive period on the cobbles as conman Lewis Archer is also set to be killed off during the New Year.

An insider said last week: "The intense plot will play out over the New Year. Nigel always knew he wouldn’t last long on the Cobbles when he signed up to return and what a way to make an exit."
