The saying like mother, like daughter couldn’t be more true for Coronation Street actress Tina O’Brien.
Having made her acting debut as a teenager on the ITV soap, she watched with pride as her daughter Scarlett began her own career last night.
The thirteen year old is starring in BBC drama Waterloo Road, a series her mum also appeared in back in 2010.
At a special screening in Stockport, the pair watched the first episode of the new series and walked the red carpet alongside other cast members.
Taking to Instagram, proud mum Tina shared several photos from the night, including one of her and her daughter.
The caption read: "ScarlettJThomas #1fan (Proud mum).”
Scarlett was the image of her mum, as she wore a chic white blazer with jeans whilst her mum opted for a black jacket.
The teenager will be working alongside her uncle and former Emmerdale star Adam Thomas. He will be playing Scarlett’s on-screen father, Donte Charles, on the show.
And as if the show wasn’t enough of a family affair, Adam’s son Teddy will also be portraying one of his on-screen children.
The new casting announcement comes as the BBC stated that the new series will air in early 2023.
Tina could hardly wait to share the news with fans though, as she excitedly shared pictures from last night’s premiere.
A later image showed her daughter posing with her castmates on the red carpet, against a background of school lockers.
She wrote: "Very excited to finally be able to announce that my gorgeous, lovely, talented Scarlett Thomas will be in the new series of Waterloo Road #proudmum."
Several Corrie cast members congratulated Scarlett on her small screen debut, leaving touching messages for the youngster.
Catherine Tyldesley wrote a particular sweet comment, saying: "That girl has always been the brightest of stars."
Meanwhile actress Helen Flanagan, who played the iconic Rosie Webster, simply left a heart emoji.
Scarlett’s father, former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas, also shared a loving tribute to his daughter.
He wrote: "The secret is finally out!!! As a Father & big brother it doesn’t get much better in life to find out that my brother is going back to "Waterloo Road" where it all started for him in his career to then find out Scarlett is going to play his daughter in the show @adamthomas21."
Ryan also appeared in Coronation Street alongside Tina, who he originally met as a teenager at a children’s drama club in Manchester.
Working alongside each on the soap, the pair became closer and ended up dating for over six years.
However, the couple eventually separated in 2009.
Both actors would go on to find new partners, with Tina marrying in 2018 and Ryan becoming engaged to TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh.
