Coronation Street's Liz McDonald to be warned by Steve after huge Katie discovery

Coronation Street‘s Liz McDonald will be thrown into a huge dilemma after learning her long-lost daughter Katie is alive next week.

Liz’s world is set to be turned upside down when Jim announces that Katie didn’t actually die all those years ago, but her son Steve’s suspicions could ruin her happiness.

Upcoming scenes will see Liz learn the real reason Jim has arrived back in Weatherfield when he tells her that the baby they lost in 1992 actually survived after all.

As Liz processes the life-changing news, the shocks just keep on coming as Jim soon reveals that their daughter – now known as Hannah – is sitting at the next table.

With Liz torn over what to do following the bombshell, Jim later shows her a DNA test which confirms there was a mix-up at birth.

Aware that Liz is struggling to process the news, Jim urges her to get in touch with Hannah and even leaves her with a picture of their daughter.

With Eileen’s support, Liz later agrees to meet Jim and Hannah for lunch, where she is completely overcome by emotion as the reality of the situation starts to dawn on her.

After bonding with Hannah, Liz later presents her with a necklace – before heading to Katie’s grave where she breaks down.

But as Liz comes to terms with the fact her daughter is alive, more obstacles await when her son Steve doubts the newcomer’s story.

Having been told that his sister is alive, Steve is left increasingly suspicious about Hannah’s intentions after meeting her for the first time.

Unconvinced by Hannah’s claims, Steve and Tracy decide to do some digging and search the internet for more information about her.

Fans will have to wait and see what they find, but by the end of the week, Steve and Tracy summon Liz and Jim to their flat, where they reveal that Hannah isn’t who she says she is.

In fact, Steve is so unconvinced by Hannah’s identity that he even suggests doing a DNA test. But are his suspicions correct or not?

Beverley Callard – who plays Liz – said: “Jim breaks the news to Steve but Steve does not believe it at all, even if Steve did want to believe it he has got Tracy in his ear and of course Tracy has got the bit between her teeth.

“They do some searching and call Liz and Jim together to say that they don’t think Hannah is who she says she is and Steve wants to do his own DNA test. Jim says that he believes her and he has got a meeting with a lawyer about compensation and claiming against the hospital.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
