Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne will ‘stray to the dark side’

Coronation Street: The Barlow’s interrogate Peter

Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne (played by Rob Mallard) is set to find out about Daisy Mideley’s (Charlotte Jordan) affair and will “stray to the dark side”, according to Corrie boss Iain MacLeod.

Daisy recently called time on her affair with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) after realising what she would be throwing away with Daniel.

However, after seeing Ryan had already moved on with Crystal Hyde (Erin Austen) she felt as if she had made the wrong decision and her jealousy began to show.

Daniel almost caught Daisy and Ryan in the thrills of their affair, but her scheming mind managed to throw him off the scent.

Iain MacLeod recently told Express.co.uk and other press that their secret doesn’t stay a secret for long as Daniel will soon find out about their affair.

He explained: “I honestly don’t know who I am rooting for. Suffice it to say, it obviously ends in a right pickle and Daisy’s feelings for Ryan can’t go undiscovered by Daniel forever.

“He does indeed start to cotton on and the intensity of feelings they have for each other and there are lots of tense sequences.

“We see some of Daniel’s darkness, not quite to the extent of him pushing anyone down the stairs this time.

“But actually what we do know about him is when pushed into an emotional corner, there is a switch that goes and he is capable of doing some fairly underhand and placidly dark things.

“We are going to see some of that as the story unfolds and some excellent soapy manipulations on his part to try and distance Ryan from Daisy as quickly as possible.

“In the end, it all comes crashing down and scenes that show the end of that relationship and big dilemmas for Daisy in terms of if not Daniel then is Ryan the right choice.”

Will Daniel hurt the ones he loves the most? Or will he realise that his dark thoughts will only push Daisy away more?

Daniel and Daisy will also have to navigate the return of Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) who was involved with Daniel before she left in 2020.

Will Daniel be the one to break Daisy’s heart as he turns back to Bethany?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
