The former Underworld boss – played by Shayne Ward – was last seen on the cobbles in May before taking his own life in his flat, but his voice was heard again in Weatherfield tonight– via a DVD.
However despite the moving nature of the video, those watching at home were rather distracted by his voice – claiming it sounded nothing like him.
Taking to Twitter to comment on it, one person wrote: “I refuse to believe that is Aidan speaking, sounds nothing like him #corrie.”
While another tweeted: “I don't remember Aidan sounding like Barry White! #corrie.”
Someone else asked: “Why has Aidan turned into Barry fucking White #Corrie.”
And a further person added: “That did not sound like Aidan.”
During tonight’s double bill, Alya (Sair Khan) who took over the role as factory boss after Aidan left the knicker factory to her in his will, gets off to a good start when she bags a major new contract, and her assistant Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) tells her Aidan would’ve been proud of her business acumen.
However, Sarah hands her a DVD of an interview Aidan conducted with a medical student ahead of donating a kidney to his sister Carla Connor (Alison King) back in February.
On the DVD, Aidan pours his heart out about his family and how much they meant to him, which pulls at Alya’s heart strings, leaving her feeling guilty about taking over the Connor family business.
She starts to doubt her new role, but while Aidan’s return prompt a complete change of heart over it?
