Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews calls for a familiar Emmerdale face to return

Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews has campaigned for Mathew Bose to return to Emmerdale.

Bose played Paul Lambert on the soap between 2004 and 2009 and last reprised his role briefly in 2015.

Matthews tweeted an article in which Lorraine Kelly stated that a “return is long overdue” for the character, pointing out that his family remains on the soap. The Coronation Street actress also wrote: “Yes @lorraine! Absolutely @emmerdale should bring back @mathewbose!”

Bose himself was flattered by Lorraine’s article and Matthews’ shout-out.

“Lawks. Thank you @reallorraine for the mention and @SallyAnMatthews for the push!” he replied.

Meanwhile, soap stars Hayley Tamaddon (who has played Del Dingle on Emmerdale and Andrea Beckett on Coronation Street) and Nicola Wheeler (who currently plays Nicola King on Emmerdale) also voiced their support for Bose to make a comeback.

And Matthews concurred with all of the comments, later adding in another tweet to Emmerdale: “Woe betide you if you let me down.”

Paul Lambert made primetime soap history when he entered into a civil partnership with Jonny Foster back in 2008. The door has been very much left open for a possible return, as the character is currently residing in Portugal.

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV.
