Coronation Street spoilers: Simon Barlow’s dark plan for Peter EXPOSED after Carla rage?

Simon (played by Alex Bain) has only recently cut his ties with a notorious gang on Coronation Street after getting himself mixed-up with the thugs last year and following his near-death experience in the boat fire drama, the youngster seems to be on the straight and narrow.

In tonight’s instalment of the ITV soap, Simon was seen helping his father Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) try to track down his lover, Carla Connor (Alison King), after the Underworld factory boss disappeared earlier this month.

Desperate to track Carla down as he became more worried about her state of mind, Peter agreed to the plan of launching a social media campaign which proved successful as someone got in touch to say they’d seen her.

Peter’s investigation led him to a squat where two men asked for money in exchange for information and just at the point they were about to reveal Carla’s whereabouts, the police raided the property.

You’re a good liar

Peter Barlow

Prior to setting out on his mission, Peter had asked his father Ken Barlow (William Roache) and Carla’s father Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) not to involve the police as he thought it would make her spiral even further.

However, when he returned home with no greater detail on Carla’s whereabouts before he left, Peter was livid with his father, thinking he was the one who called the authorities.

“Just couldn’t keep your mouth shut, could you?” Peter raged, to which Ken replied: “If this is about me telling Johnny, I was concerned.”

Correcting his father, Peter said: “I don’t care if you blabbed to Johnny, but you just ruined any chance of finding Carla.”

Confused by Peter’s aggression towards him, Ken was left having to defend himself when his son said: “I asked you, I said, ‘please don’t call the coppers,’ but you know better, don’t you?”

With Simon trying to step in-between the two men, looking noticeably shady, Peter continued his rant, telling Ken: “Do you know what? You’re a good liar and all,” to which the teenager admitted his grandfather hadn’t made the call.

“I was this close to finding her, dad. I was this close and the coppers barge in and the two blokes leg it,” Peter continued.

Ken added: “Well, I’m sorry but this isn’t on me,” to which Peter hit back again and trying to move the conversation along, Simon asked: “Right, did they know anything about Carla?”

Fuelled by rage, Peter told Ken: “I don’t know. But I’ll tell you this, if they did and you’ve ruined my chance of finding her, I’m never going to speak to you again.”

With Ken adamant he didn’t make the call and with Simon taking the stance to defend his grandfather, could the teenager have been the one to make the call to jeopardise his father’s plan?

Simon may have seemed willing to help with the investigation by setting up the social media campaign, but this could’ve all been a ploy to allow his father to take a back-step so he could focus on his son a bit more.

Simon hasn’t shied away from voicing his opinions on his father’s love life before, feeling second-best to Peter’s romance with the ladies.

However, with Peter still hell-bent on his own investigation despite the social media campaign, Simon could’ve rung the police to ensure his father was put off the scent, allowing the authorities to take over.

Seeing Peter’s rage at Ken, could Simon have to up the ante to ensure his father isn’t a part of Carla’s investigation any more?

Elsewhere in Weatherfield, Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) discovered she was pregnant after feeling unwell for several days.

Will she tell Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) about the baby after the young couple called time on their relationship and or will Gemma leave Coronation Street for good?

Coronation Street continues Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
