The florist, played by Patti Clare in the ITV soap, hasn’t seen her Jude for weeks since he tried to flee Weatherfield with his baby son George after being publicly outed as a liar.
This came after he violently knocked Mary to the floor as he tried to stop her from revealing that he’d spun a web of lies to trick Roy Cropper out of £5k and was pretending to have got on a paramedic course.
But despite their falling out Mary becomes more and more worried as time passes and Jude doesn’t get in touch.
She suggests to Angie – Victoria Ekanoye – that they should report him missing but Angie, who had fallen hook, line and sinker for more of her estranged husband’s lies, isn’t keen.
So Angie is more than a little annoyed when a police officer calls on her at work at the solicitors’ office and asks her questions about Jude.
Angie insists that her mother-in-law is making a huge fuss about nothing and says that Jude has simply run away because he’s ashamed.
Later, Mary is horrified when Angie reveals to her that she filled the police in on the fact that Jude is a pathological liar.
Mary begins to worry that something serious has happened to her son and the police won’t take his disappearance seriously after what Angie told them. Is she right?
