Nina (played by Mollie Gallagher) has become a shell of her former self in recent months on Coronation Street following the murder of her boyfriend, Seb (Harry Visinoni). The young character’s ex-girlfriend Asha (Tanisha Gorey) has been a huge support to her, despite the schoolgirl still harbouring feelings for Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) niece. Next week’s episodes of the ITV soap will see the trial begin to discover who was responsible for killing the beloved character and Nina will start to remember what happened on the night she and her lover became victims of a vicious hate crime attack. However, in the midst of the revelations, could it be Asha was one of the reasons Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) initiated the horrific act of violence?
The drama begins on the eve of the trial as Nina is transported back to the fateful night after hearing a piece of music.
Roy begins spreading the word about his niece’s memories resurfacing and it’s not long before Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) devises a plan to get justice for her son.
Desperate for answers, she brings a bag full of belongings found on Seb’s body to the café and Nina instantly recognises a plastic heart ring her boyfriend gave to her before he was murdered.
Needing a stronger connection to the place where she was attacked, the youngster returns to the wasteland where she came face-to-face with Corey and Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson).
In a special flashback sequence, viewers will watch as Nina finally remembers the full extent of the attack and who inflicted the blows.
With the full picture now in her head forever, the youngster goes to the police station to make a new statement.
Those in court are shaken to hear new evidence has come to light and Nina turns up to watch the trial in her full goth attire.
This is to make the point no one should be persecuted for the way they look and the guilty parties look on in shame.
As the jury hears more about the fateful night, Seb’s last voicemail is played out and Kelly can’t bring herself to look at his loved ones.
When it’s Nina’s time to take to the stand, she doesn’t hold back as she tells the judge how she remembers watching Corey repeatedly kicking her boyfriend.
Nina also explains Kelly was stood on the side and was begging Corey to stop attacking the young man, giving the teenager some sort of defence.
When Corey’s barrister begins to question Nina, they point out loopholes in the youngster’s memories and tries to discredit her version of events.
Angry for being portrayed as a liar, Roy’s niece becomes visibly irritated and so the court breaks and Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) is left worried.
Following the short recess, Corey is beginning to sweat as he knows his chances of freedom are slowly slipping away.
His ex-girlfriend, Asha, enters the witness box next and her relationship with the troubled schoolboy comes into question.
Corey’s barrister tries to manipulate the situation when Asha tells the court her boyfriend bullied her and forced her to lie to the police.
Noting the schoolgirl has had a romance with Nina in the past, Asha becomes increasingly worried her feelings are going to be exposed.
Imran gets the chance to cross-examine Roy’s niece too and the lawyer suggests Seb was murdered because he got in the way of Corey’s vendetta against his girlfriend’s former lover.
The lawyer outlines to the court Corey was jealous of Nina’s relationship with Asha and so wanted to kill her, not Seb.
It suddenly dawns on Asha she could have played a massive part in the beloved character’s death and she breaks down in tears.
As the trial continues, Nina could be left furious having discovered her ex-girlfriend was the reason she and Seb were attacked.
Asha would be full of regret and would be willing to do anything to ensure Nina knew how sorry she was for seemingly being implicated in the murder.
Unwilling to accept her former lover’s apologies, the youngster could issue the schoolgirl an ultimatum.
If she wants them to have a chance of being friends again, Nina could tell Asha she needs to leave the cobbles.
Knowing the youngster has relatives abroad, Seb’s girlfriend could demand her ex-girlfriend take a break from the cobbles for some time so she can get her head together.
With Nina and Asha’s relationship on the line, the drama continues in the court as Corey lies through his teeth.
Wanting his freedom back, he claims Kelly was the one who beat Seb to death and he tried to stop the vicious attack.
Sat in the docks, Abi notices Corey’s unease but is furious when he is given a glowing character reference.
Outside the court, Seb’s mother loses it with Corey’s father and accuses him of offering bribes to get his son out of jail.
Abi is unwilling to let the matter drop so begins her own investigations but will she expose Corey as her son’s killer?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm on ITV.
