The compulsive liar left Weatherfield on Tuesday after he was exposed for his lies and hitting his mum Mary Taylor – but viewers suspect it won't be the last time he's seen on the cobbles.
Jude horrified fans earlier this week when he assaulted his mum Mary after she confronted him about a bogus cheque.
However, while they were delighted by his subsequent departure, viewers are now speculating whether his disappearance is part of wider fraudulent plan – and if he's even Mary's son at all.
One fan wrote on Twitter: "Imagine if Jude wasn’t the real Jude but had stolen his identity years before and the real Jude is indeed a marine biologist and Mary’s real son. He is such a liar anything is possible."
As another agreed: "Is Jude even Mary's son? He's lied about everything else…"
Further fans said: "Really starting to think #Jude is not #Marys real son. The lies keep coming. Thats got to be the big final lie #itvcorrie"
And: "Jude, where have you hidden the real Jude. I am starting to be convinced that he is hiding Mary’s real son somewhere in the world"
As another simply questioned: "Did Jude and Mary ever have a DNA test ?"
Jude, played by Paddy Wallace, turned violent towards his mum when she threatened to tell his wife Angie about his lie and told him she "deserves better".
Mary, played by Patti Clare, gave birth to Jude after being raped at 14 but he tracked her down and revealed himself as her son on Christmas Day in 2016.
Jude and Angie later moved to Weatherfield from their home in South Africa but it soon became clear that Jude was lying about his career as a marine biologist and actually worked in a local gift shop.
However the lies continued, with Jude taking the credit for saving Roy Cropper’s life after he had an allergic reaction to a bee sting, when it was actually trainee doctor Ali Neeson.
Jude didn’t confess and let himself be nominated for a Good Samaritan Award and took a cheque for £3k from Roy to pay for a paramedic course.
He later told his friends and family he'd qualified but Angie was left furious when she received a call that revealed he'd walked out of his final exam.
