Coronation Street devastation for Nick Tilsley as David Platt reveals he contemplated suicide

Coronation Street‘s Nick Tilsley is left devastated next week as his brother David Platt reveals that he contemplated suicide earlier this year.

Nick (Ben Price) is returning to the show after more than a year away, but he won’t be getting a warm welcome from everyone on the cobbles.

The businessman’s comeback is motivated by his unresolved feelings for his ex-wife Leanne Battersby, but once he’s back in Weatherfield, he also realises just how much he’s neglected his family.

David (Jack P Shepherd) gives Nick a particularly hard time for not being around when he needed him, and as tensions rise, he tells his brother that he wants nothing more to do with him.

Later in the week, Gail tries her best to explain David’s frosty attitude to Nick by revealing some of what he’s been through this year.

Nick is shocked as Gail explains that David did a stint in prison for beating up Gary Windass, but Sarah pipes up that he’d know these things if he hadn’t turned his back on his family.

As Nick tries to support his brother, David also lets slip that he contemplated suicide at his lowest ebb this year – a secret he’s only shared with his girlfriend Shona Ramsey and close family members.

Nick is horrified by this revelation, but David refuses to discuss it any further and repeats that he doesn’t want Nick in his life anymore.

Can Nick find any way to make it up to David, and is it only a matter of time before he discovers the truth about his brother’s rape ordeal with Josh Tucker?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 17 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
