Comic actor and Carry On actress Liz Fraser, 88, has died

Londoner Liz had a starring role in British TV’s first soap opera, Sixpenny Corner, on ITV from 1955-56.

She returned in 1975’s Carry On Behind and went on to star in the bawdy Confessions films.

The British Comedy Society tweeted: “Very sad to learn that the wonderful Liz Fraser has died. She was a delight.”

Elstree Studios chairman Morris Bright called her “fun, bubbly, irascible”, adding: “She worked with the very best from (Tony) Hancock to (Peter) Sellers”.

She made her Carry On debut in 1961’s “Regardless” but was later dropped for 12 years after saying the franchise could be better marketed.
