Christina Applegate Turns Grief into Dark Comedy in New ‘Dead to Me’ Trailer

Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini explore the sinister and sometimes hilarious corners of grief in the trailer for their new Netflix series, Dead to Me, premiering May 3rd.

In the show, Applegate and Cardellini play Jen and Judy, two women who meet at a support group and form an unlikely friendship after losing their significant others. The new trailer captures the feel-good start of their friendship as they bond over wine, joints on the beach and The Facts of Life, but things take a turn after Jen invites Judy to live in her empty guest house.

Soon after, the cops show up looking for Judy and more details begin to emerge about her mysterious, chaotic past. Meanwhile, Jen grows increasingly obsessed with trying to track down the person responsible for the hit-and-run that killed her husband — or as one cop puts it, while Jen smashes the mirror off a yellow Corvette, “I’ve got a widow running around town like a white wine vigilante.”

Dead to Me also stars James Marsden, Ed Asner and Brandon Scott. The show was created by Liz Feldman, who previously worked on 2 Broke Girls, Hot in Cleveland, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and created the NBC sitcom, One Big Happy.
