Chilling Adventures of Sabrina may have only just dropped on Netflix, but production on season two is already well underway.
Netflix picked up the Sabrina revival with a two-season commitment and, considering both season are being filmed back-to-back, the streaming giant is wasting no time in getting stuck into more dark and unholy adventures.
This darker revival of the classic teenage witch series has been widely applauded for its style and storytelling, and it now seems that the Chilling Adventures team are looking to take things in a new direction with the sophomore season.
Kiernan Shipka, who plays Netflix’s new Sabrina Spellman, divulged to Bloody Disgusting some updates on season two, teasing that it’s very different to the first season.
“We went straight into the second season from the first and it’s been really so exceptionally fun to film, especially given the fact that I feel like we’re already in such a rhythm from coming out of the first season that to jump right into the second one was really, really fun and just a great opportunity to keep the momentum going,” she said.
“We definitely… Sabrina definitely changes and shifts a lot. Her growth is very evident and the second season definitely has a different spin on it than the first season. They’re very different from each other.”
As for what those differences are, it looks like you have to wait until you’ve finished the first season (if you haven’t already) before you can make any solid guesses, with Shipka teasing that the season one finale “sets up a lot” going forward.
“I would just say that, without giving too much away, because it would be a bit of a spoiler, the way that Sabrina’s life takes certain turns and certain decisions she makes inform the second season,” she teased.
“The finale of the first season sets up a lot. It goes in a different direction. We see more different characters. It deals with a different side of things.”
