Child’s Play: Mark Hamill to Voice Chucky in Reboot

Mark Hamill will voice Chucky the killer doll in the upcoming remake of Child’s Play, Orion Pictures announced Saturday.

The Star Wars actor joins a cast that includes Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman and Brian Tyree Henry.

Described in the official press release as “a contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic,” Child’s Play “follows Karen (Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.”

“We feel incredibly lucky to have an icon creating a new take on an iconic character,” said David Katzenberg, who produces along with Seth Grahame-Smith.

“Mark is a gifted actor and celebrated vocal performer, and he’s approached this challenge with incredible energy and commitment.”

Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) directs Child’s Play from a script by Tyler Burton Smith (Sleeping Dogs, Quantum Break video games) based on the original 1988 movie. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson are executive producers.

Orion Pictures will release Child’s Play via their United Artists Releasing banner on June 21, 2019.
