Cheryl Tweedy can’t stop watching ‘disastrous’ X Factor performance after backlash from fans 'left her devastated'

The singer faced harsh criticism from viewers who dubbed her comeback "painful and embarrassing" – but she can’t understand why.

It was the 35-year-old's first time back on stage in four years with her new single Love Made Me Do It, which saw her lick her hand as she danced sexily in a black bodysuit.

Insiders have told The Sun Online Cheryl has been left devastated by the backlash after seeing all the bad reviews flood in on social media.

She now thinks she'll never be able to win over her "haters" – despite many fans loving her return to pop.

A source told us: “Cheryl’s devastated over the harsh comments about her performance.

"She always says that ‘haters’ come with fame and she expects some negativity, but she didn’t expect this reaction.

"She goes on social media to interact with her fans and it actually shocked her, reading some of the comments.

"At first she was angry – she watched the performance back over ten times and can’t understand what she did wrong.

"She just feels like some people are always going to be against her and she can’t change their minds.”

The raunchy routine before the 9pm watershed didn't go down well with fans, who were stunned by the X rated choreography and launched a series of Ofcom complaints.

The mum-of-one took four years off from showbiz to "save her sanity".

The track, co-written with Girls Aloud pal Nicola Roberts, sees the star open up about her troubled love life and sing “Oh My God I’m such a sucker, I fall in love with every f***er”, but add: “Love made me do it, and I’d do it again.”

Since the release of Love Made Me Do It on November 9, it is now ranked at number ten on iTunes with many praising the pop star's new music.

Cheryl has been silent on social media since performing on X Factor, with her last post thanking the show for having her.

A body language guru revealed the secret signals she sent about her sex life on stage.

Expert Judi James told The Sun Online Cheryl wanted to show off her sexuality, that she doesn't need a man, but if a good-looking guy catches her eye she'll be helpless.

Cheryl's reps have been contacted for comment.
