Charles Dance reveals devastating bombshell for Game Of Thrones fans

Charles Dance revealed a devastating bombshell for Game Of Thrones fans on today's This Morning.

The British actor, who played ruthless Tywin Lannister in the HBO series, was asked whether there would be a prequel.

The 72-year-old's character was killed on the toilet by his "ungrateful, little son", but could return in a series set before the current one.

However, Charles cast doubt on a prequel by admitting that he had not heard it was in the pipeline.

"If there was a prequel I’d be a bit old for that," he confessed, but presenter Eamonn Holmes suggested he could wear a wig.

He added: "I’m sure they’ll be some kind of spin offs but I’ve heard nothing about a prequel. HBO will get as much mileage out of this as they possibly can."

When asked if he would play the role of Tywin again, he said: "Given a chance absolutely I would. It was the most fantastic thing to be part of."

Fresh from his appearance in last night's episode of ITV's new series, The Widow, Charles also revealed the inside gossip from last week’s Game of Thrones premiere in New York.

He said: "It was like a college reunion. Anyone who had ever been in the show was invited.

"It was bigger than any film premiere I've ever been to. Thousands of people. Miles of red carpet. Endless lines of limos.

"They real pushed the boat out and gave us the last farewell with a bang."

*This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am
