Celebrity Big Brother's Ryan Thomas opens up about "most challenging" experience of his life

Celebrity Big Brother‘s summer series named its winner during last night’s live final (September 10), and it was Ryan Thomas that came out on top.

The soap star didn’t exactly have an easy time of things on the show, finding himself in the eye of his very own media storm whilst inside the Elstree compound.

The highly-publicised incident saw fellow housemate Roxanne Pallett claiming that he had “punched” her whilst they were mucking around in the kitchen; she later refused to sleep in the same room as him and called for his removal from the house.

Unbeknownst to them, viewers at home were outraged and the incident was taking over headlines across the country. After removing herself from the house, Roxanne apologised for getting it so “wrong”.

Ryan was the final contestant to exit the house on Monday night and, in an interview with Digital Spy and other media earlier today (September 11), he admitted that he hasn’t yet had a chance to catch up with everything that’s been going on outside.

Stating that he’s been in “a bit of a bubble”, the former Coronation Street star described the whole CBB experience as “one of the most hardest and challenging experiences of my life”.

His brother (former Love Island star) Scott Thomas and his girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh have both been very vocal in defending him from the unfair accusations that occurred in the house.

And each of them – along with Ryan’s other brother Adam and close friend Umar Kamani – were in the CBB audience to support him through the final.

Speaking about being reunited with them all, he said: “To have my loved ones around me, especially my brothers and Lucy, has been a real privilege.” He also added that he couldn’t wait to get home to his daughter “as soon as possible”.

It’s unfair to judge Ryan’s entire CBB journey on the Roxanne furore; a well-deserved winner, he also provided plenty of laughs and was liked by each and every one of his fellow celebrity housemates.

Celebrity Big Brother aired on Channel 5. Big Brother 19 will start on Friday, September 14 on Channel 5.
