Celebrity Big Brother‘s Kirstie Alley has opened up to fellow housemates for the first time about overcoming a crippling cocaine addiction.
The Hollywood film and TV star, who is currently the Big Brother house’s president, has been hugely guarded thus far, refusing to discuss her support of US president Donald Trump or her affiliation with Scientology.
But in Wednesday’s (August 22) episode, Kirstie was surprisingly candid as she shared her story of surviving cocaine abuse many years earlier.
The actress admitted that trying cocaine for the first time made her want to continue using the dangerous drug “every day for the rest of [her] life”.
“Cut to two-and-a-half years later, it just snagged my soul,” she remembered. “I was nothing. It just kills your soul somehow.”
The former Cheers star shared with her housemates that her lowest point came when she put the care of her niece and nephew in danger.
“I had my niece and nephew and they were very young,” she recalled. “They were over at my house, and I went upstairs and I was snorting coke.
“Then, I came down and I was taking care of them. I thought, ‘My god, I’m up there snorting coke and then coming down here and taking care of these babies. This is horrible!’ I called my sister and I lied. I said, ‘Oh, I don’t feel good. Can you come and get the kids?’ And she did. That was when I just went, ‘You’ve lost your soul. Totally’.
“I’d stepped over the line. Now, the crazy was running me instead of me being wild.”
Kirstie told Sally Morgan that she’s never touched cocaine since getting clean — adding that she’s “never wanted to” either.
