Celebrity Big Brother winner Ryan Thomas forgives Roxanne Pallett over the punch drama

Celebrity Big Brother winner Ryan Thomas finally found out the full truth about the Roxanne Pallett scandal while on live television, and his response was a powerful message of forgiveness.

The former Coronation Street star got his fairytale ending two weeks after he was accused by Roxanne of punching her “repeatedly, unprovoked”, driving him into an isolated state where he repeatedly broke down into tears.

Roxanne ultimately left the house when other contestants started doubting her version of events, and has since admitted herself that she “got it wrong” in a series of public apologies to Ryan and his family.

In Monday night’s finale, Ryan found out just how much the public had been supporting him when he won the series over second and third place finishers Kirstie Alley and Dan Osborne.

During his sit-down chat with Emma Willis, Ryan seemed hesitant at first when Emma asked if he wanted to see the raw footage of the so-called punches, but eventually agreed after being cheered by the live crowd.

“It was totally unexpected,” he told her of the allegation. “It was a sign of affection that I’ve used on Gabby, the boys. And unexpected because there was nothing in it and as it unraveled, as it became bigger and bigger, the thing that scared me the most was when Ben said she couldn’t stay in the room with me because she was scared.

“That rang alarm bells. Then the game became real life for me. I did break. I was a scared little boy. I just wanted out.”

Despite the distress that he’s suffered over the incident, Ryan gave a surprising answer when Emma asked if he could ever find it in his heart to forgive her.

“If she wants forgiveness and it makes her feel better then I would rather give her that because I think she’s been punished enough by the public and the people around her,” he said.

That answer led Emma to suggest that he’s the most-deserving winner in the entire history of Big Brother and its celebrity spin-off. Many viewers were equally impressed:

Celebrity Big Brother may be ending but civilian Big Brother will be launching this Friday night (September 14) at 9pm on Channel 5, followed by Rylan Clark-Neal with the return of Bit on the Side at 11pm.
