Casualty's new autumn trailer teases Iain Dean's tragic struggle after the death of Sam and Mia

BBC One’s Casualty has finally released its autumn trailer after teasing the event this week – and it looks like we’re in for an intense few months.

The bleak new promo previews Iain Dean (Michael Stevenson) struggling to cope with his grief following the death of his best friend Sam Nicholls (Charlotte Salt) back in the summer.

With Iain still trying to come to terms with the tragedy he feels responsible for, it seems the dark plot is far from over yet, as he explains: “It hit me more than I realised.”

“But I’ll be fine now,” he ominously adds, as he’s pictured surrounded by flames.

The new clip also features the return of Sharon Gless, who reprises her role as sharp-witted brain surgeon Zsa Zsa Harper-Jenkinson, and unveils some of former EastEnders star Shaheen Jafargholi’s first scenes as new nurse Marty.

Meanwhile, a tragic turn of events has left Dylan right back at square one (and back on the booze), while the trailer gives fans a look at Dylan’s dad, who was previously confirmed for a return.

Before the trailer dropped, Casualty also shared a sneak peek at tomorrow’s episode, teasing Omo’s return to Jacob’s life – and his tough decision as a result.

Casualty continues on Saturday, October 6 on BBC One.
