Casualty confirms when Ethan's final episode will air as George Rainsford exits

After months of speculation, Casualty has finally confirmed when Ethan Hardy’s final episode will air as George Rainsford leaves the role.

Last year, George shared a snap on social media of a script from a previous episode, telling his followers that he came across it when ‘clearing out’ his dressing room.

‘Just clearing out my dressing room drawer and look what scene I found!,’ he wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of the screenplay, which was the episode that saw Ethan find out Cal had died.

This left many wondering if he was simply having a bit of a spring clean, or that he was leaving the show.

The post came shortly after a Twitter interaction with director Duncan Foster, which similarly led fans to the conclusion that the soap star was departing.

And back in August, George posted a picture alongside his co-star, Amanda Henderson (Robyn Miller), with his caption and comment from the actress further adding to speculation.

Now though, following our exclusive chat with show boss Jon Sen – who discussed George’s exit – it’s been revealed that we will say goodbye to Ethan Hardy this Saturday.

9 years of Dr Hardy.
We’re not ready to say goodbye 💚

Posting on Twitter, the Casualty account shared four pictures from Ethan’s time at Holby ED. They feature the return of Richard Windsor (who played Ethan’s brother, Cal), Ethan beside Fenisha’s (Olivia D’Lima) grave, Ethan, Rash (Neet Mohan) and Robyn filming a social media video during the Coronavirus pandemic, and Ethan proposing to Fenisha, just weeks before she was killed in a car/train collision.

The episode itself will focus on a revelation for Ethan. He has been busy preparing for the Jac Naylor award, but will he win it?

And if so, how will this tie into saying goodbye to the ED?

Sadly, for Casualty fans, George Rainsford isn’t the only star we’ll soon have to say goodbye to, as Jason Durr’s exit as Nurse David Hide has also been announced.

Right now, we do not know when David’s final episode will air.
