The Reckoning official trailer
Call the Midwife’s Fenella Woolgar looked unrecognisable as the actress took on the role of former Prime Minister Margret Thatcher.
Fenella, who is known for playing Sister Hilda in the period drama, appeared in the final episodes of the BBC’s The Reckoning.
The four-part series explored the crimes of Jimmy Savile, who was played by Steve Coogan, as the former PM featured in some scenes.
However, people watching the drama were stunned to see the BBC star in a different light as many were quick to comment on the resemblance.
Taking to Twitter, @TheLastBus commented: “There have been many portrayals of Maggie Thatcher but none so uncannily accurate in voice, cadence, walk and mannerisms as Fenella Woolgar in #TheReckoning.”

@Danielpcarry said: “I thought she was remarkable. Move over Meryl Streep.”
@WonkyTwonk added: “Fenella Woolgar is turning my stomach, her portrayal of Thatcher is uncanny.”
@Princ3ssGC shared: “Watching more of #TheReckoning and I am terrified by how scary-good Fenella Woolgar is as Thatcher.”
@JDMusic14503112 commented: “If the @BBCOne ever wanted to do a show like #thereckoning about Maggie Thatcher.. they MUST have Fenella Woolfar play her! The character portrayal is just PERFECT!”

With @teaspoonofsugar sharing: “#TheReckoning is insane. Cannot stop watching. Besides the obvious Coogan as Savile being so good it’s dumbfounding, Fenella Woolgar’s Margaret Thatcher is the best yet.”
The actress was a key part of Call the Midwife’s cast when she joined back in 2018, although fans watched her leave Poplar last year.
People were made aware of her character’s exit during the Christmas special when viewers learnt she had to leave Nonnatus House after being summoned back to the Mother House in Chichester.
Since the period drama started back in 2012, people have seen a string of actors join and leave, with two new additions being added to the upcoming season.
Viewers will be introduced to two pupils in the new midwife training scheme, Joyce Highland (played by Renee Bailey) and Rosalind Clifford ( Natalie Quarry).
However, it looks as though Joyce is hiding a secret from her traumatic past which is set to be exposed.
Along with the two new additions, fan-favourites Trixie Franklin (Helen George), Sister Monica Joan (Judy Parfitt), Cyril Robinson (Zephryn Taitte), Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter), Nancy Corrigan (Megan Cusack) and Dr Patrick Turner (Stephen McGann) will all be returning.
Series 13 will consist of a 90-minute Christmas special which will air this year along with eight episodes which will start in 2024.
