Britain’s Got Talent taken off air next Saturday in major ITV schedule shake-up

ITV's Britain's Got Talent has been dropped from next week Saturday's schedule, as it clashes with the annual Eurovision Song Contest.

The hit talent show hosted by Geordie duo Ant and Dec has been pushed to Sunday (May 14) at 7:40pm.

Instead, the movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will take the BGT's regular slot 8pm on May 13.

Britain's Got Talent is currently airing the audition rounds which will take place until the latter part of May.

This will then be followed by the live shows which usually take place during the end of May and the first week of June.

The winner of Britain's Got Talent will receive a huge cash prize of £250,000 and the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

The news comes as the UK gears up to host the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time since 1998.

The popular singing competition will be broadcast live from Liverpool from 8pm until midnight on BBC One on Saturday, May 13.

Regular commentator, Graham Norton will host the BBC event and will be joined on stage by BGT judge Alesha Dixon, Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina.

Meanwhile, Graham's commentary job will be taken over by Rylan Clark and Scott Mills.

Although the UK came a respectable second place during last year's competition, the winning country Ukraine was happy to hand the hosting duties over due to the ongoing war against Russia.

Ahead of the event, Liverpool will also host a pre-party.

The Guardian reports that more than 100,000 people are expected to descend on Liverpool for a week-long "scouse-Ukraine mashup".

The bash will also feature a popup Ukrainian village, a wide selection of traditional Ukrainian foods and 19 installations by artists who derive from the country.

Ukrainian journalist Maria Romanenko, who fled to Manchester when war broke told ITV News that she did hope her country would host the event but she's happy the UK are taking the reins.

She said: "It's so great to see all the Ukrainian events being put on.

"The Superlambanana being painted in Ukrainian colours, all the different foods and drinks in the Euro Village and in restaurants across Liverpool.

"It's just all looking amazing."

Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX
