The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh did not seem very impressed as newcomer Darragh Ennis sat in the Chaser chair during Wednesday's episode.

Darragh took on players Alan, Laura, Kerry and Enyioma, as the former managed to rake in £5,000 to the pot at the start of the show.

Laura followed it up with a decent £3,000, but both she and Darragh struggled in the second round as they both fought for victory.

One particular question proved to be a tough one for Laura, as Bradley asked: "Who was made the patron saint of television for being able to see mass on her wall despite being too ill to attend it?"

The options were shown on the screen as St Rose of Lima, St Teresa of Avila or St Clare of Assisi.

Darragh opted for the correct answer of St Clare of Assisi but Laura eventually decided to go for St Teresa of Avila.

Revelling in his victory, Darragh joked: "So when they asked her if she was able to see mass and she was Italian she said 'I see, see'."

Whilst the contestants burst into giggles, Bradley looked far from impressed as he swiftly turned around to Darragh to give him a telling off.

He said: "Just answer the questions, you questions, me comedy, you contestant.

"Simple as that."

Darragh also had an awkward clash with first contestant Alan, who was not very impressed with his first offer of the show, giving Alan a low offer of £500.

Alan quickly turned down the offer, saying to Bradley: "Well the £500, that’s a bit of an insult, I think so that's off the table for me."

Darragh didn't take the snub personally as he shrugged and replied: "Don't know what you're expecting for seat one but fair enough."

Meanwhile, Darragh eventually claimed the final victory as Alan, Laura and Enyioma made it into the last round to try and win £10,000.

The trio managed to earn a decent 17 steps during the round, making it a tight squeeze for Darragh to try and beat them.

But he was on flying form as he answered every question correctly, leaving a whopping 30 seconds on the clock after his victory as he sent the group home packing in just a few short minutes.

The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
