Bradley Walsh fumes at ‘stupid’ question as player gets through round with £40K

Bradley Walsh was completely floored at one question on The Chase.

The 63-year-old star took to the airwaves on ITV as he hosted Monday's edition (26 June) of the long running game-show.

39-year-old Pete from Bristol, 62-year-old Kim from Hampshire and 29-year-old Claudia from Warwickshire tried to best the Vixen Jenny Ryan.

However, it was 42-year-old Trainee Consultant Neville from Birmingham who competed in a tense head-to-head with the chaser for £40,000 in his cash-builder round.

After both the contestant and The Vixen answered a Pixar question incorrectly, he had one last chance to make it into the final chase.

Bradley was rooting for the team, but he was left utterly perplexed at his next question that he was forced to read out by producers.

The question read: "Proverbially, 'fine words butter no …' what?"

The host then fumed: "What? I've never heard that in my life, who says that!"

However, after Neville actually answered the question correctly, he had the studio in hysterics as he sarcastically praised the question after much complaining.

He jokingly exclaimed: "What a great question that was! That question was sensational!

"Nailed on, all day long! [He] knew it! I'll tell you what mate, proverbially, fine words, you know what they do Nev?

"They don't butter no parsnips, put it there kapow!"

The audience took to Twitter in their droves as they were shocked that Neville outsmarted the sitting chaser and he made it through to the final round with the huge prize pot.

One wrote: "Neville should definitely buy a lottery ticket."

Another joked: "Miracles do happen.#thechase"

Whilst a third penned: "Every answer a guess. Well done Nev #thechase

"Well done Nev. #thechase," exclaimed a fourth.

In the end, Pete, Neville and Claudia made it to the final chase with £41,000 where they answered 18 questions correctly.

However they lost out on the extortionate prize after they were caught out with 17 seconds remaining after two failed attempts to push The Vixen back.
