BLACKPINK to perform on James Corden following record-breaking Kill This Love

It’s going to be a rather busy week for BLACKPINK, with the K-pop band set to perform on The Late Late Show With James Corden before taking to the Coachella stage.

The group – made up of Lisa, Jennie Kim, Rose and Jisoo – made their US talk show debut performing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in February, so they’re basically taking over right now.

Their comeback track Kill This Love has been, er, killing the airwaves and smashing YouTube records, so it’s perhaps no wonder James was keen to get them on his show, which will be broadcast on 18 April.

According to CBS press express they’ll appear on James Corden as a musical guest, alongside celebrity guests Andrew Garfield and Lake Bell.

That’ll come right in the middle of their Coachella performances, as they take to the stage on the 12 and 19 April.

It’s not just any gig for the four-piece, as they become the first K-pop girl group to perform at the dusty Californian festival. The ultimate multitasksers, they’ll kick off their North American tour in LA on the 17 April while they’re over there.

It comes after Kill This Love dethroned the mighty Psy earlier this week.

Which is no mean feat, you know.

The girl group’s amazing MV received over 100 million YouTube views in just two days and 14 hours – beating the previous record held by Psy’s Gentleman.

Psy’s viral hit had held the record since April 2013, after reaching 100 million views in two days and 19 hours.

Yeah, sorry Psy. But that wasn’t it, though.

YouTube confirmed the track hit 56.7 million views in its first 24 hours, which means the ladies just pushed Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next aside when it came to the biggest 24-hour debut.

Psy is one thing, Ariana is something else.

BLACKPINK’s appearance on James Corden follows in the footsteps of BTS, after the popular K-pop group had fruit pelted at them during a hilarious segment.

We can’t imagine James flinging a bunch of oranges at his latest guests, but hey, we’ve seen crazier things happen.
