‘Black Mirror’ Season 5 Reportedly Arriving December With Interactive Episode

Netflix

Never mind “exit game” — get ready to enter the game yourself.
A new report in Bloomberg has some juicy details about Netflix’s “Black Mirror” Season 5, which started production earlier this year.
First of all, they said Netflix is developing a series of interactive specials allowing viewers to choose the next storylines. An insider said the company expected to release the first of those projects by the end of this year.
The first may be in “Black Mirror” itself.
Here’s what Bloomberg added specifically about “Black Mirror” Season 5:

“Viewers will get to choose their own storylines in one episode of the upcoming season of “Black Mirror,’ the Emmy-winning science-fiction anthology series. The show is famous for exploring the social implications of technology, including an episode where humans jockey to receive higher ratings from their peers. The fifth season of the show is expected to be released in December.”

Expected in December. Not confirmed by Netflix or anyone else. But it would be very exciting to continue the tradition of new seasons arriving in December as binge-worthy holiday gifts.Bloomberg added that the “Black Mirror” episode “is the first of several experiments with live-action interactive programming for Netflix, and the first interactive show designed for adult viewers.”
No further details yet. It’s possible — maybe even preferable — that no further details will be shared until the “Black Mirror” episode in question arrives.
The past two seasons of “Black Mirror” won Emmys for Outstanding Television Movie — “San Junipero” in Season 3, and “USS Callister” in Season 4. Both of those episodes also won Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie, or Dramatic Special. If Season 5 does stream in December, we won’t be shocked to see one of those episodes also pick up some Emmys this time next year.Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook.
