Big Brother's Gamechanger is a complete disaster that causes cheating allegations and an almighty row

Rylan Clark-Neal promised that Big Brother‘s all-new Gamechanger competition was going to rattle the house, and he was not exaggerating! We just didn’t expect we’d need a university degree in Game Theory to keep up…

The Channel 5 reality competition has thrown a spanner in the works this series by offering the housemates a chance to save one of the eviction nominees in a weekly competition.

The first one of these Gamechanger tasks aired on Wednesday (September 26) as six housemates were challenged to complete a “deceptively difficult puzzle” called the Dice Dash Challenge by retrieving the pieces from individual ball pits.

The tricky part was that any housemate who pressed their buzzer even once without correctly solving the puzzle was disqualified. Housemates who collected their dice before the klaxon or stole from each other would also be disqualified we’ll come back to this!

The housemates competing in the Gamechanger were all three nominees (Isaac, Lewis F and Lewis G) and Akeem because he had the largest Big Coin total. Akeem also got to choose another two housemates, selecting Cian and Kenaley.

“I really do like a good challenge,” Akeem warned.

The trouble came about when Akeem seemed to take puzzle pieces that belonged to Lewis F, but was initially declared the winner. The rest of the house weren’t pleased, with Cameron in particular crying foul that Akeem and even Isaac may have cheated Lewis F.

“I have an opportunity to make an impact,” Akeem argued after being declared the winner, but Isaac angrily warned: “I’m f**kin’ fuming!”

Big Brother seemed to agree with Isaac, and later informed a very happy group that it had no choice but to completely redo the Gamechanger because of “errors in the game caused by mix-ups of multiple puzzle pieces by housemates”.

“The only fair thing is to run the competition again,” Big Brother told the cheering housemates.

Well, everyone but Akeem cheered anyway. This new format tweak is off to a great start then…

In the second round, Cian, Lewis G and Akeem were disqualified, forcing the game to be re-started once again for the remaining three (Kenaley, Lewis F and Isaac). This time, Lewis F was disqualified when Cian shouted some advice from the sidelines and, mercifully, Kenaley then won once and for all.

Kenaley ultimately made the decision to save Isaac because she gets on better with him than either of the Lewises, telling him: “In the future, you don’t owe me nothing. You don’t have to pay me back.”

This means it will be Lewis F versus Lewis G up for eviction on Friday night.

Tensions were running high after the ceremony, particularly because of Lewis G’s continued taunting of Lewis F throughout the challenge. It was too much for Kay, who had previously been Lewis G’s biggest supporter and was even dubbed his “bitch” by Cameron earlier this week.

“I just think it’s really sad that you’re making the other Lewis feel like shit,” she complained. “I actually liked you. If anything, I was laughing with you.”

“I know, it’s really sad,” Lewis G sarcastically sniped. “Are you going to start crying again?”

When Kay admitted that she thought Lewis G was “a bit better” than the way he was behaving, he shot back: “So did I, but I don’t really care what you think of me. That’s all! What a tragedy, I suppose.”

Lewis F refused to get involved when Lewis G tried to bring him into it, potentially foreshadowing even more trouble to come.

In the end though, the takeaway from this first Gamechanger was that it gave us a headache trying to keep up:
