Bake Off judge Prue Leith is now officially off the hook for biggest-ever reality show spoiler — that title now belongs to Big Brother legend Nikki Grahame for making an epic gaffe during Monday’s finale.
The housemate who once famously vented about feeling very venomous and angry in the Diary Room made millions (okay, thousands) of Big Brother fans feel the same way when she announced this year’s winner long before it aired on telly.
Tweeting at 9.31pm (a full 15 minutes before it was screened on TV), Nikki tweeted: “Cameron you smashed it!!! F**king 😘 massive congratulations you legend!”
Many of those watching were subsequently raging: “Who is she?! Where did they find her?!”
Many fans claimed there was a fix involved here, but Digital Spy had earlier reached out to Big Brother when it first became clear that Monday’s finale was on a tape delay rather than live.
A spokesperson for the show told us: “There’s a slight time delay between record and transmission, but this has no effect on voting, as lines closing is clearly stated on screen to take this delay into account.”
Unfortunately, nobody on the Big Brother production told Nikki about the transmission delay. We imagine her now ranting and raving at some “fat ox” behind the scenes.
Earlier in the day, Nikki had joined the likes of former Big Brother host Davina McCall and current Bit on the Side presenter Rylan in paying tribute to the show ahead of the not-at-all-live finale. We’ve not heard from Mr Snuggles though…
