Big Brother fans slam ‘rushed’ final and accuse C5 of a ‘lack of respect’

Big Brother viewers were left fuming tonight over the show’s last ever final and accused Channel 5 of "rushing" it.

Tonight, the show aired for the last ever time after an 18-year run and host Emma Willis was left in tears after crowning 19-year-old Cameron Cole the winner.

But viewers were left fuming that the reality TV show seemed so rushed due to the short time slot.

This resulted in two housemates, Cian and Zoe, being evicted at the same time.

Former housemate India Willoughby led the fury, tweeting: "Shocked that on final night of the daddy of all reality shows two people have been evicted together because of the time slot. Without #BBUK there would be no Love Island, TOWIE etc. It’s been 5’s highest rated programme ever single year. Respect, please #BBBOTS."

While another tweeted: "Ah sad to see #bbuk ending awful how rushed it all felt thought."

A third remarked: "I honestly feel like for the final ever show they could’ve done so much, brought back all the winners? More throwback moments, each housemate leaving by themselves, it seems so rushed for the final ever show ‍♂️ #BBUK."

"The whole #BBUKFinal was far too rushed! Damn you @channel5_tv and your bloody time restrictions!" another fumed.

Former hosts and housemates alike flocked to Twitter to pay tribute ahead of the final airing tonight.

The reality TV show first aired on Channel 4 in 2000 and instantly became a ratings hit. After airing for eleven series the show ended on the channel in 2010 after Ultimate Big Brother, which featured a number of the show’s most iconic stars.

It was initially presented by Davina McCall, who decided not to return when the show moved to Channel 5 in 2011. Former winner Brian Dowling took over for the twelfth and thirteenth series before later being replaced by Emma Wills.

Ahead of the last ever episode airing tonight, presenter Emma Willis shared a snap of her final read-through script on Instagram and commented: "Goodbye my friend…."

Former host Davina McCall shared a video message as she wished the crew good luck and said she knew it "will be hard" tonight.

BB impressionist Luke Kempner tweeted: "It’s the final day. Feels very strange. Very sad. I don’t like it."

Former housemate Chanelle McCleary added: "Met my best friend for life on @bbuk learnt so much about myself &really did have an the most amazing unforgettable experience, I’m so glad I got to be part of the big brother family."

Ex-CBB star Nicola McLean shared a picture of herself in the Big Brother chair with her head in her hands.

She tweeted: "Gutted @bbuk."

Former EastEnders actor Ricky Norwood commented: "I can’t believe it’s here.. not only is it the #BBUKFinal tonight! But it’s the Final @bbuk on @channel5_tv ! Which means it’s going to be the very last #BBBOTS !! I’m so honoured im going 2b there. Going 2b #Emosh ! Iv loved this series.. and #BBUKCameron #CameronToWin."

Meanwhile BBBOTS host Rylan admitted that he was "heartbroken" ahead of the last ever series ending on TV.

The 30-year-old, who won the Celebrity version in 2013, will host BBBOTS for the last time after this evening’s final.

Lavishing praise onto the show via a Twitter post, he said that Big Brother had shaped his career and personal life and that he would be "forever grateful".

Rylan, who first rose to fame on The X Factor in 2012, was first set to appear on Big Brother 8 in 2007 but was left devastated after his name got leaked to the press – meaning that he wasn’t able to take part.

After later winning CBB he became a host of CBBBOTS and ended up meeting husband Dan, who was a housemate on Big Brother. The couple married in 2015.

In a poignant post today, Rylan wrote: "You literally shaped my career and my personal life and I’ll forever be grateful. From day 1 I was a fan, became a housemate, winner, and host and I’ll never find anything like you again. # bbuk .

"The life I’ve got now is all because of you. Big Brother, I’ll get back to you. X"

Earlier today, he also wrote: "I can’t say goodbye. I just can’t."
