'Big Brother 22': Angela Rummans Releases Statement Defending Tyler Crispen's Motives for Wanting To Leave

[SPOILER ALERT: Spoilers ahead for Big Brother 22.]

After Christmas Abbott nominated Bayleigh Dayton and Da’Vonne Rogers, Tyler Crispen stated he wanted to leave to support the ladies’ “cause.” When his plan fell through, many fans blamed the Big Brother 20 runner-up and called his demonstration “performative activism.” His girlfriend, Angela Rummans, responded to the criticism in a lengthy note.

Tyler Crispen never wanted to compete on ‘Big Brother 22: All-Stars’

In the first couple of weeks of the season, Tyler Crispen admitted to Ian Terry that he initially rejected the offer to return for BB22 several times. However, his girlfriend and BB20 star Angela Rummans reached out to a production member behind his back and told them he would compete.

During his Head of Household reign, he got annoyed with David Alexander for repeating information to Da’Vonne Rogers and vented about it to the cameras before he went to sleep.

Tyler also noted Da’Vonne is now likely targeting him, so he has to go after her first even though he wanted their alliance to work. Additionally, he stated he doesn’t mind leaving pre-jury but plans on winning if he figures himself out of the situation.

A week later, the BB20 runner-up told David Alexander he wasn’t having a good time in the house because of the “pressure” he felt. Tyler also pointed out that he didn’t like receiving admiration for his manipulative or lying skills and doesn’t enjoy “crushing people’s dreams” to benefit himself.

A couple of weeks later, Christmas Abbott won Head of Household and nominated allies Bayleigh Dayton and Da’Vonne Rogers. She then won Power of Veto and intended to keep nominations the same.

Tyler felt guilty because he thought the rumors he spread led to the ladies sitting on the block. Therefore, he approached them in the Have-Not room and apologized for his behavior.

He then offered to talk to Christmas about using the POV on either of them to backdoor him and send him home. Tyler noted he didn’t want to stay anymore and wants to be an ally for Bayleigh and Da’Vonne’s “cause.”

However, Christmas chose not to use the Veto because she’s aligned with Tyler and didn’t want to send him home.

Many fans considered Tyler’s demonstration to sacrifice himself to further the Black Lives Matter movement “performative” and thought he manipulated the ladies.

His girlfriend Angela defended him in a note she uploaded to her social media accounts.

The cookbook author said she knows Tyler’s character and believes he “has a heart of gold.” She also stated she “knows the intent behind his words” and insisted the BB20 runner-up “would never intentionally, or unintentionally, mean to hurt or cause disrespect to another person.”

Additionally, she claimed “the intentions of his actions” were “pure and genuine.” Angela continued, explaining she “can hear the pain in his voice when he speaks and feel the hurt in his heart.”

She also said she believes her boyfriend was “deeply affected” and did what he thought was right. The BB20 star ended her statement by promising Tyler would have “gladly” gone home to stand up for what he believes in if he got his way.

However, “other factors” prevented him from executing his plan. Angela limited her comments, so only her followers can respond to the post. Big Brother 22: All-Stars airs Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
