Better Call Saul, the spinoff series created by Vince Gilligan, is a prequel to Breaking Bad. The AMC show stars Mr. Show alum Bob Odenkirk as a lawyer named Saul Goodman. Years before Walter White dropped teaching chemistry and picked up selling meth, Saul was sweet-talking his way through Albequerque.
Earlier this season, the show’s dedicated fanbase became concerned that Better Call Saul was ending. As it turns out, their suspicions were correct.
‘Better Call Saul’ cast member hinted that the show is ending after season 6
A few months ago, the actor who plays the show’s drug kingpin Gustavo Fring, Giancarlo Esposito, confirmed a painful truth.
Fans had already suspected Better Call Saul was coming to a close very soon. Especially after seeing a similar trajectory in Breaking Bad.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that Better Call Saul‘s “parent show” “ran for five seasons.” But, the final season was “broken in two and aired a year apart.” In all, the series totaled sixty-two episodes.
“There will be six seasons,” Esposito told the press in spring 2019. “It seems like that’s the way—the comfortable way to end this show.”
But at the time, The Hollywood Reporter got contradictory information to Esposito’s. Their sources revealed that at that point, “that no endgame had been set” for Better Call Saul.
No new seasons after 2021 for ‘Better Call Saul’
However, showrunner Peter Gould put the nail in the coffin for Better Call Saul at the winter Television Critics Association press tour in 2020. Gould also confirmed a similar episode count to that of Breaking Bad.
From the beginning when we started this, I think all our hopes and dreams were to be able to tell the whole story … and make it to be a complete story from beginning to end.We’re going to try like hell to stick the landing of these 63 episodes.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed: “AMC will bring Better Call Saul to a close with a 13-episode sixth and final season in 2021.”

When does Season 5 air?
Season 5 of Better Call Saul will air on Feb. 23, 2020. While previous seasons of Better Call Saul have reintroduced key Breaking Bad characters, season 5 has even more in store for fans.
DEA Agent Hank Schrader, played by actor Dean Norris, is apparently returning in season 5. At the TCA winter tour, Gilligan pointed out two episodes from the upcoming season that are especially close to the team’s heart.
Gilligan explained it was “because we have some of our Breaking Bad family returning: Dean Norris as Hank Schrader in episodes three and four, and Steven Michael Quezada.”
“Working with Dean and Michael again was a highlight of the season,” he said.
What about Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul?
“I would love to see them on Better Call Saul before it ends, so who knows,” Gilligan told reporters.
