'Below Deck Med': Is Trouble Brewing Between Chef Ben and Hannah Ferrier?

The last time chief stew Hannah Ferrier and chef Ben Robinson from Below Deck Mediterranean worked together, the two warred over the use of the term, “entrée.” This caused confusion during dinner service leaving both annoyed with one another.

Although Robinson and Ferrier have enjoyed a pretty symbiotic working relationship this season, it may have been the calm before the storm. Robinson, who arrived mid-charter to save the season, was hit with broken equipment and an unorganized galley kitchen.

While Ferrier and Robinson seemed to find their groove when he first arrived, it may be Groundhog Day once again when the two bicker over dinner service.

It always seems to hit around dinner service

Like last time, the two argued during dinner service. In a clip, Robinson seems to be hitting his groove, really getting into the meal. He’s also doing some reorganizing, asking deckhand Jack Stirrup to move extra pans out of the way.

Meanwhile, Ferrier is busy talking with guests who started with dinner service. But when stew Aesha Scott returns with plates in hand, Robinson asks for feedback. “Were there any comments about it,” Robinson asks. When Scott says there were not, he asks why didn’t they eat the food.

Scott says Ferrier had been speaking with the guests and to ask her. But Ferrier asks Scott to let Robinson know he should start plating the meal. This stresses Robinson out who asks, “Why is Hannah rushing me right now? I didn’t realize she had a plane to catch,” he says in a confessional. When he asks Ferrier for feedback he gets annoyed when she just asks him to start plating. “How about giving me a bit of help or support,” he says in a confessional. “Why are you aggravating me? Why are you trying to rush me? I can’t be rushed. You know this!”

They have a ‘very hot and cold’ relationship

So are these two destinated to squabble at work? “In terms of my relationship with Ben, it was very, very hot and cold, and what you see is basically what was going on,” Ferrier told Bravo’s The Daily Dish in 2016. “I think there was flirting and then there was fights and things like that, so it’s always difficult when you’re trying to gauge what kind of relationship you’re gonna have on the boat.”

But ultimately, Ferrier describes their relationship in these terms.  “It’s like he really loves strong women in the chief stew position, but then he absolutely hates it as well. I’m not someone who’s gonna back down if I think that I’m right or if I think someone needs to take partial responsibility,” she shared.

Robinson also has had a number of tense moments with chief stew Kate Chastain. At the end of his last season working with her, he proclaimed he didn’t like working with her and preferred to be just friends. “I’m friends with Ben to this day,” Ferrier added. “I see him every time I go to Fort Lauderdale, and we have drinks and a good laugh.”
