BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was missing from the iconic morning programme on Friday (April 15), just days after confirming she had landed a 'new job'.

With hosts Charlie Stayt and Rachel Burden on the red sofa, Carol wasn't the only one missing from the show, as Naga Munchetty has also been taking a break for the Easter holidays.

Dan Walker – who sensationally quit the BBC earlier this month in favour of a move to Channel 5 – has also been missing for the last two weeks, replaced by Jon Kay for his usual Monday to Wednesday stint.

Carol was instead replaced by Sarah Keith-Lucas, who presented the meteorological report in her absence.

She is one of several regular weather presenters, along with Matt Taylor and Owain Wyn Evans.

But Sarah is rarely seen on air, last appearing on March 24.

Fans were loving seeing her on the show, and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One wrote: "Good morning Sarah you always do the weather with a smile xxx", as someone else chimed in: "Morning, seeing you this morning was beautiful enough Sarah!"

"Hey Sarah good morning to you looking very summery in your yellow dress. Have a great Easter!" a third fan gushed.

It comes just days after Carol Kirkwood landed a 'new job' on Morning Live – leaving Sally Nugent and Jon Kay fuming at the show hosts for 'stealing' her.

Morning Live star Kym Marsh announced that Carol would appear on the BBC programme to talk about the weather, with Sally soon snapping: "Hands off Carol Kirkwood, she's ours! What's she doing on Morning Live?"

Jon interjected: "She's moonlighting! Carol! We'll hear from Carol in a few minutes with the weather…"

Other fans have even suggested Carol could replace Dan Walker as a permanent fixture on the red sofa – with one fan guessing: "Not sure we’ve had a weather presenter take the sofa? This opens up bringing the mighty Carol Kirkwood in!"

Someone else posted: "I truly hope Carol you become the replacement presenter of the great Dan Walker on BBC Breakfast, as I think after all these years you deserve that chance and would be great at it, especially after bringing us great weather forecasts for many years."

Another viewer agreed: "Thinking about Dan Walker leaving @BBCBreakfast. Opportunity for a shake up! Like, have a woman sit on the left side of the screen?"

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
