'Bachelor in Paradise' Isn't Filming in Cabo; Why 'the Bachelor' Men Were There

Bachelor Nation cannot wait for the new season of Bachelor in Paradise. But contrary to popular belief, Bachelor in Paradise hasn’t started filming yet. Here’s what we know about the upcoming season of BiP.

‘Bachelor in Paradise’ cast 2021

Former Bachelor Matt James and Bachelorette star Tyler Cameron have already confirmed they won’t be joining the cast of Bachelor in Paradise. At this point, Joe Park from Tayshia Adams’ season of The Bachelorette is confirmed for the new season. ABC executive Robert Mills confirmed Park would be in Paradise via Twitter.

Additionally, two of the women from Peter Weber’s season will supposedly participate in the new season of BiP. Alayah Benavidez, the villain of Weber’s season, and Mykenna Dorn are rumored to be joining the cast, but nothing is confirmed.

At this time, it is hard to say who else will join the cast of Bachelor in Paradise. According to an insider, ABC hopes to have Blake Horstmann, Becca Kufrin, and Tia Booth back for another season (via E! News). But again, nothing is set in stone.

‘Bachelor in Paradise’ air date

ABC currently has Bachelor in Paradise scheduled to air Aug. 16, 2021. Most of Bachelor Nation feels that because the network has an air date, they have enough people to film. Still, it’s unclear if filming has actually started yet.

‘Bachelor in Paradise’ filming location isn’t Cabo

Bachelor favorites Dean Unglert and Jared Haibon confirmed they were in Cabo for Ben Higgins‘ bachelor party — not to film Bachelor in Paradise — on the latest episode of Help I Suck at Dating. The duo released a new episode later than they typically do because they were “celebrating [their] friend Ben who is getting married to Jess and [they] just couldn’t record last week.”

During the episode, the duo reminisced about the beauty of their Cabo trip and how much fun they had celebrating the groom-to-be. Not wanting to say too much, Unglert and Haibon were tight-lipped about the goings-on at Higgins’ bachelor party trip. But they did mention how a few single guys brought women back to their rooms.

Higgins opened up about his bachelor party on his podcast, The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast“There’s a lot of articles out there thinking that we filmed Bachelor in Paradise last week,” Higgins began. “That was not the case at all. I was celebrating my bachelor party.”

“Everybody that was able to go got the vaccine ahead of time,” Higgins added. Among those in attendance were Nick Viall and Wells Adams. And while the Bachelor Nation men had a blast playing golf and hanging by the pool, they were not filming Bachelor in Paradise

Where will ‘BiP’ film?

Historically, BiP has filmed at the Playa Escondida resort in Sayulita, Mexico. But with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic at play, showrunners may have to take extra precautions to keep the cast and crew safe. While Bachelor in Paradise could still film at the resort, it’s hard to say for sure with vaccine availability and travel restrictions.

Like the most recent seasons of The Bachelor and The BacheloretteBachelor in Paradise might have to be filmed state-side. Will BiP will go passport-free and send contestants to a secluded American beach? Stay tuned to Showbiz Cheat Sheet to find out.
