Atlanta baddie Teddy Perkins turns up at the 2018 Emmys, but was it Donald Glover?

The 2018 Primetime Emmys took place last night (September 17, as far as the US was concerned) and while the focus may have rightly been on who won what, something else from the night has been grabbing everyone’s attention.

Amongst all the famous guests and behind-the-scenes cast and crew was Teddy Perkins, one of the most memorable characters from the second season of Atlanta, with the sixth episode based all around him.

The character was played by series creator and leading man Donald Glover, who used ‘whiteface’ to portray a creepy, Michael Jackson doll-like figure with a skin condition, in what is considered one of the show’s best episodes.

Donald reportedly stayed in costume, and character, throughout the filming of the episode, and pictures of Teddy at the Emmys sitting in the same seat that Donald later sat suggest the actor reprised the role last night.

But, at the same time, the facial prosthetics from last night don’t look like the ones used in the series, and there’s also the matter of Donald’s great big bushy beard too.

Whether it was Glover, a body double or even another one of Atlanta‘s stars, it’s a fun little moment and a nice return for one of the show’s best characters.

Atlanta airs on FX in the US and BBC Two in the UK. A third season is due to film in 2019.
