Ariana Grande at the BBC viewers left in floods of tears as Davina McCall pays tribute to singer's support of Manchester following arena bombing

Ariana Grande At The BBC aired earlier this evening, with the US pop star sitting down with Davina for a candid interview – as well as giving special performances of some of her most-loved songs.

Mid-way through the special, Davina brought up the terrorist attack at Ariana's concert on 22 May last year – which claimed the lives of 22 people.

The host showed the star a video from Manchester locals, thanking the singer for returning to their city so soon after the attack to host One Love Manchester – a benefit concert that helped victims.

The Mancunians branded Ariana an honorary Manc, with Davina poignantly going on to tell the star that the "entire nation has taken her under our wing" following the tragic event because she "came back".

Ariana was visibly emotional during the talk, with Davina holding the singer's hand for comfort as she reassured her that she wasn't going to make her talk about the tragedy as she knows that she finds it hard.

However, viewers at home were still bawling – admitting that they were in floods of tears and had "goosebumps" at the segment.

One wrote: "Oh my god they called her an adopted Manc I'm crying."

Another added: "She's so f***ing strong I'm so proud of her."

A third wrote: "I AM CRYING OMG I love you so so much and am so proud of you and how brave you are my love."

Ariana was left "traumatised" when a suicide bomber targeted her fans following her gig at Manchester Arena last year, but she was determined to do whatever she could to help the victims of the attack.

The star returned to the city less than two weeks later after organising a star-studded benefit concert, which raised millions of pounds for victims and their families.

The three-hour concert, which featured performances from Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, and Little Mix, was streamed across the globe and viewers were left impressed with Ariana's strength throughout.

The singer also took the time to visit hospitalised victims of the attack, bringing them gifts and flowers in hospital, also meeting with relatives of those who lost their lives.

On 12 July last year, Ariana was given the prestigious title of honorary citizen of Manchester.

Sharing a screenshot of a report announcing the news, Ariana wrote: "I don’t know what to say. Words don’t suffice.

"I’m moved and honoured. My heart is very much still there. I love you. Thank you."

Speaking about the attack earlier this year, Ariana spoke through tears as she shared: "You try not to give into fear, because obviously that's the whole point of being here. That was the whole point of finishing my tour.

"It was to set an example for my fans who were fearless enough to show up to the f***ing shows… You want to set the same example.

"You want to keep going, and you want to not be afraid, because of course that's what they want.

"If you give them that, then they've won… But the truth is is that it's f***ing scary. It's scary going anywhere, and you look at places differently."
