Ant-Man and The Wasp's Evangeline Lilly gets drastic new look ahead of Avengers 4

Ant-Man and The Wasp‘s Evangeline Lilly has cut her hair short – prompting fans to point out that the new ‘do resembles that of original Wasp/Janet van Dyne in the Marvel comics. Curious…

Of course, Lilly, who stars as Hope Van Dyne, may have simply fancied a change – and her hairdo may have absolutely nothing to do with the Wasp’s classic look and her role in Avengers 4 (which has already wrapped filming) or any future MCU movie – but that’s not going to stop us speculating…

“On the train from #Tokyo to #Osaka. .#shorthair by @hairbyadir stripped suit by @dzojchen #presstour #antmanandthewasp#wasp,” Lilly wrote on Instagram.

“Evangeline Lilly’s new hair is Janet Van Dyne tease,” one fan tweeted in response to the snap. Another wrote: “Evangeline Lilly does not play the wasp. SHE IS THE WASP.”

The latest Marvel movie sees Hope and her father reunite with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) on a mission to rescue the original Wasp, Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), from the perilous Quantum Realm.

Earlier this month, Lilly opened up about her plan for an all-female Avengers team, nominating Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel for the role of leader.

“Well, it seems only natural Captain Marvel would lead because she is a general,” she suggested. “And she’s the captain. And Captain America leads the other Avengers, right, so maybe Captain Marvel would lead.

“The sky’s the limit. We can reinvent the wheel. We don’t have to do anything that anyone’s ever done before. We can just make it all up and change the game.”

Ant-Man and The Wasp is out now in the US and the UK. Book tickets here.
