Angela Rippon teases return of Rip Off Britain
Angela Rippon and her professional partner Kai Widdrington appeared on Wednesday’s instalment of It Takes Two to discuss their Strictly Come Dancing journey.
During their interview with host Janette Manrara, Kai addressed why “it’s tough” being partnered with Angela, 78.
Angela admitted her muscles are “working overtime” as she prepares to take on The Quickstep for Movie Week as she’s transformed into Julie Andrews to dance to The Sound of Music’s Do-Re-Mi.
“I know there are things I will not be able to do,” she admitted. “So please can we make sure I do the things I can do as well as I possibly can.”
During the interview, Janette admitted she’d never watched The Sound of Music, and to her surprise, Angela had not either.
Angela quite literally jumped out of her seat and screamed: “No I’ve never seen it either! Ever!”
Janette asked: “What do we do? Do we watch it together?” To which Angela said: “We’re not bad people because we’ve not seen it!”
The former newsreader continued: “I’ve actually seen it in the theatre because of friend of mine was playing Mother Superior.”
Despite never having seen the movie, Angela will be turning into Julie Andrews’ character, Baronin Maria von Trapp, this Saturday night.

Kai added: “Flexibility is not the key element to The Quickstep. It’s tough, we are not running around the floor like you’d normally see.
“We are working on technique and the simplicity of The Quickstep and where it originated from.”
Angela still does the splits and exercises every day – and she’s also been impressing the judging panel with her moves.

The presenter has already performed a high kick which dazzled viewers of the hit BBC show in Week One.
However, she did admit on Instagram in recent days: “I ache, everywhere. This is a beautiful dance when it’s done properly, but you wouldn’t believe the physical contortions you have to do!”
Will Angela and Kai make it to the top of the leaderboard this weekend for Musicals Week?
