The aftermath of the car crash that left Angel King (Rebecca Bakes) in a serious condition and facing months of recovery continues to play out in upcoming Emmerdale episodes – and poor Angel finds herself in the middle of a feud between her mum Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb).
The crash occurred when Nicola was stressed after Jimmy (Nick Miles) forgot to take Angel to her dentist appointment. Bundling her daughter into the car they set off for the dentist, but as Nicola’s angry mood continued she wasn’t paying full attention to driving. At an unsighted junction her car crashed with Moira’s – and Nicola was certain that it was all Moira’s fault.
Vet Tom King (James Chase) was able to give Angel first aid at the scene, but when she got to hospital doctors told a devastated Jimmy and Nicola she would need emergency surgery and her injuries would take months to heal properly.
In upcoming episodes Nicola channels all of the rage and hurt – and possibly guilt – she feels about her daughter’s injuries into seeking justice for her, and her target is most definitely Moira. As she tries to gather evidence to strengthen her case, Jimmy pleads with her that it’s Angel who really needs her now but Nicola isn’t listening.
Will she listen to Angel? Her daughter tries to get through to her by telling her that the crash was an accident and nobody was to blame, but again Nicola’s relentless focus on making Moira pay for what’s happened makes Nicola ignore the fact that her daughter just needs her mum there supporting her and caring for her.
As Nicola escalates her attacks on Moira by going online and throwing accusations at her and her whole family, it’s too much for Moira and she turns up at Victoria Cottage to have it out with Nicola.
And that’s when Angel finally snaps. She announces that it was Nicola, not Moira who was to blame for the car crash.
Will Nicola accept responsibility?
