Andie MacDowell will appear in Four Weddings and a Funeral TV series, with Game of Thrones star cast as lead

When it comes to the world of entertainment, nostalgia gets us all in the end – the fans, the creators and even the stars. We just love reliving those glory days, y’know?

It should come as no surprise, then, that Four Weddings and a Funeral star Andie MacDowell has been confirmed for Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton’s upcoming TV series.

According to Deadline, Andie will jump aboard the small-screen reboot as the mother of one of four American friends whose lives are changed when they reunite for a London wedding.

One of those friends will be played by Game of Thrones (and Hollyoaks) star Nathalie Emmanuel, who has signed on as the series’ new lead Maya, replacing Jessica Williams.

Hugh Grant, who?

Brandon Mychal Smith, Zoe Boyle, Jennie Jacques, Harish Patel and Guz Khan have also joined the series, alongside the previously confirmed Nikesh Patel, Rebecca Rittenhouse and John Reynolds.

Mindy Kaling’s Four Weddings project was announced earlier this year, but the actress and comedian has told Digital Spy that she won’t be starring in the anthology series. Sob.

The new show, which will stream on Hulu, is for “young, cool people” only, according to Mindy, who has no intentions of ruining the new cast’s fun.

“Maybe I could come in as an elderly spinster who’s never married… and the young, good looking cast is like, ‘Get out of here!’,” she told us this summer.

Kaling’s episodic spin on Richard Curtis’ classic ’90s comedy will stick to the premise of a group of friends whose lives intersect at five life-changing events. Curtis is on board as executive producer, so don’t worry, this is going to be one of the good ones.
