The couple has denied publicly that they’ve gotten married, even after being spotted at the courthouse in the Marriage Bureau in New York.
Just days after Hailey Baldwin denied that she and Justin Bieber got married after they were spotting getting a wedding license, as TMZ reported, her uncle may have spilled the beans on Sunday.
Speaking to "Access" before the Emmys, Alec Baldwin may have said too much when asked what a Baldwin wedding was like. "Well they went off and got married," he said casually. "And I don’t know what the deal is."
In a since-deleted tweet shortly after she and Bieber were spotted at the courthouse, Hailey wrote, "I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I’m not married yet!" Of course, that was several days ago now, and the post was swiftly deleted.
Now it’s certainly possible Alec is going off of the same information that have led many of the young couple’s fans to speculate they got married last Thursday, but at the same time, he is family. Shouldn’t he know if that happened?
According to People, it may just be a matter of semantics, as Hailey doesn’t consider a courthouse wedding official and she won’t really consider herself married until she has a big wedding and the religious ceremony.
But Alec may not know that detail. "We text Hailey every now and then," he said, admitting that he and wife Hilaria have only met Bieber once.
When pressed if he was going to do the "tough uncle" routine for Bieber, to make sure he does right by Hailey, Baldwin shut that down pretty quickly.
"That’s not my job," he laughed. "She has a dad and I’m sure he has a few paragraphs about that himself. So I’m not worried."
That would be Alec’s brother, Stephen Baldwin. And while it’s reasonable that Alec doesn’t communicate with his niece all the time, surely his brother would clue him in if she was getting, or had gotten married? Representatives for both Jutin and Hailey have not yet responded to TooFab’s request for comment on Alec’s claim.
