Ackley Bridge continues to impress with its portrayal of teen pregnancy and abortion

The second series of Ackley Bridge is almost over, but that doesn’t mean fans have got used to the full spectrum of human emotion experienced in every episode.

In tonight’s (August 14) penultimate trip to Ackley Bridge, viewers were left heartbroken by Missy Booth and Aaron Turner’s split but touched by Missy and Nas Paracha’s friendship.

Yes, we are crying – and you are too.

After discovering she was pregnant, Missy decided to quit school and focus on her and Aaron’s future. Although initially reluctant, and annoyed that Missy had deliberately skipped taking the pill, Aaron warmed to the idea of becoming a dad and starting a family.

As always, the course of true love didn’t run smooth, and Aaron soon decided to split up with Missy when she decided that she could no longer go through with the pregnancy.

Unsurprisingly, Ackley Bridge fans were full of praise for the Channel 4 show once more, applauding its realistic and balanced portrayal of teen pregnancy and abortion.

One viewer called the show “one of the most important” on TV, praising it for addressing “teen pregnancy AND abortion in one episode without trying to push any agenda”.

On a happier note, fans were also full of love for Missy and Nas’ friendship, also known as the best duo to grace our televisions. Ever.

Declaring their love for Missy and Nas, one person proclaimed: “missy and nas are seriously the best friendship duo i’ve ever seen”, while another agreed it was ‘the only’ friendship they cared about.

Ackley Bridge concludes next Tuesday (August 21) at 8pm on Channel 4.
