ABBA legends will be joining The X Factor this week

Two members of legendary pop group ABBA will be joining this weekend’s X Factor.

To celebrate this year’s phenomenally-successful Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus are offering their expertise to the hopefuls as they prepare for the semi-finals on November 24 and 25.

Benny is giving up his time to host a masterclass with the six remaining singers, while Björn will be at the studio to witness the semi-finalists perform classic ABBA tracks.

So for those who didn’t know, ABBA songs will be gracing the stage on this weekend’s episode. Let’s hope there’ll be no need for an S.O.S(!)

Excited to be involved with the show, Benny revealed: “I am very happy to be hosting a masterclass and hear the last six contestants perform our songs.

“I am thrilled The X Factor is celebrating the Mamma Mia! film soundtracks.”

Meanwhile, Björn is interested to see how the contestants choose to interpret ABBA’s famous hits, adding: “I am looking forward to being at The X Factor studio on Saturday night and see how the contestants put their own spin on our songs just as Cher, Meryl Streep, Lily James and the rest of the cast did in the movies.”

It seems like ABBA’s popularity is enduring, with an interactive disco-themed restaurant set to hit London next year in honour of the group.

The remaining six semi-finalists are Anthony Russell, Scarlett Lee, Brendan Murray, Dalton Harris, Acacia & Aaliyah and Danny Tetley.

The X Factor airs on Saturdays and Sundays on ITV.
